CMPD: Please help find man missing since early January

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Missing Person Unit is asking for the public's assistance in locating Derrick Chambers. 

Melissa Garrett called police about her missing son on January 7, 2013. She told officers her son left her home on Hawkeye Drive on foot during the early morning hours of January 3, 2013.

Chambers never returned home, and his friends and family have not heard from him.

Investigators have posted bulletins, checked hospitals, and checked the bus system but found no sign of Chambers.

His family believes Chambers may be suffering from mental issues, and they are extremely concerned about him.

Anyone who sees or has information about Derrick Chambers is asked to call 911 immediately. In addition, you may also call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.  Detective J. L.
