An Amtrak train destined for Raleigh was delayed more than an hour on the tracks just outside Kannapolis Sunday night after a man was hit and killed.
The train departed Charlotte at 5:15. Less than 20 minutes later, it hit a man just six miles outside Kannapolis.
It is unclear what the man was doing on the tracks.
Tuesday, investigators identified 18-year-old Travis Lamar Vinson of Central Drive in Concord as the victim.
Concord police are investigating the accident.
There were no injuries to the 128 passengers and crew onboard. The train was not damaged.
