A bioetehicist has suggested a new way to curb obesity: 'fat shaming'.
Daniel Callahan, a senior research scholar, has proposed that making fun of fat people could encourage them to lose weight and be healthier.
Callahan calls for not only verbally calling out people on their weight, but also creating public posters that would ask direct questions like: "If you are overweight or obese, are you pleased with the way that you look?", according to MSN Now.
The Heartland is no exception to the obesity epidemic. 2011 obesity rates showed Missouri, Kentucky and Arkansas all fell in the 30% or greater adult obesity rate.
Obviously, some question whether Callahan's ideas are worth the emotional damage they could cause. Others say America should try whatever it takes to change the current course of rising obesity rates.
