A Charlotte man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for possession of a firearm by a felon.
In court Wednesday, 44-year-old Ramsey Dean Lewis was sentenced to 180 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
His prior convictions prohibit him from carrying a weapon, so Lewis was sentenced as an armed career criminal.
According to court documents, Lewis had a loaded .22 caliber revolver in his car on December 8, 2010. Officers recovered the gun after Lewis was involved in a car accident.
Lewis has been in federal custody since he was indicted in July 2011. He pleaded guilty in December 2011. He will be transferred to the Federal Bureau of Prisons to serve his sentence without parole.
