The Boone Police Department has added and additional charge to man who was arrested for sexually assaulting a woman at an area elderly residential care facility.

Charles Michael Horton, 60, was arrested on Thursday, January 10, at the Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation facility in Boone.

Workers called Boone Police around 11 p.m. that night to report that a man visiting a disabled female resident had been caught committing sexual acts against the woman.

Horton was apprehended as he walked away from the facility.

He was charged at that time with a misdemeanor charge of sexual battery and held in the Watauga County Detention Center under a $4,000 secured bond.

On Wednesday, January 23, Horton was charged with an additional charge of felony second degree sexual assault.

He is still in the custody of the Watauga County Sheriff, now with an additional $250,000 secured bond resulting from the new charge.
