Miami U student killed in Butler County crash

MORGAN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

An 18-year-old woman has died after a crash Thursday morning in Butler County.

Crews were called to the 5700 block of SR129 just west of Garner Road in Morgan Township just before 6:30 a.m.

Police say Nicole Sefton was driving a Volkswagen Jetta eastbound on SR 129 when she traveled off the right side of the roadway and flipped, coming to rest in a field.

Sefton was ejected from the car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the crash occurred sometime overnight.

Sefton was a Miami University student and a 2012 graduate of Ross High School. where she was involved with the FFA program.

"We are deeply saddened to hear of Nikki's passing.  It is always tragic when a young person's life is cut short.  She was highly thought of by her peers and teachers.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to her friends and family," said Ross Principal Brian Martin.

The crash remains under investigation.

    Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is searching for a missing 9-year-old. Police say Antoine Taylor was last seen in the area of the 2700 block of South Boulevard. Taylor is described as a black male, approximately 50 pounds, 4' 5" tall with a low haircut. He was last seen wearing glasses, a navy collared shirt, khaki pants and gray new balance sneakers with a white stripe.

    Rescue teams continue searching the rough waters below the Elk River Falls in Avery county for a man who slipped off a rock Sunday. The victim is from Ohio, said authorities, and had stopped by to see the falls after attending a wedding in Asheville. He has not been identified yet. Witnesses said he was sitting on a ledge that leaned into the water below the falls and slipped into the water.

    Matthews police are searching for a man accused of firing shots outside of a home Monday night. Officials say the shots were fired around 8:10 p.m. in the 800 block of E. Charles Street. Upon arrival officers spoke with people inside the home who said they observed a male holding a shotgun in the driveway threatening to kill to individuals, a report stated.
