A Boone woman was arrested for stealing money from the Humane Society office she worked at, according to the Watauga County Sheriff's Office.
On December 24, deputies received a report of possible missing money from the Watauga Humane Society on Paws Way in Boone. The agency told deputies they believed money and checks had been taken.
The Watauga County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Unit conducted an investigation into the incident, and soon made an arrest.
Christine Clarke, 44, of Boone, was arrested on January 17, and charged with five counts of felony larceny by an employee.
She was given a $20,000 unsecured bond and is scheduled to appear in count on February 26.
