NC WEATHER: Rain, cooler temps return this week

Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. - Another cold front is heading for North Carolina with rain and cooler temperatures, but no sign of 90s anywhere on the seven day forecast.

The work week started with clouds and fall-like temperatures.  The high in the Triangle was 75 while Fayetteville made it up to 77, both below normal temperatures for this time of year.

Overnight will continue to stay mostly dry, but mostly cloudy with a morning low down to 64 Tuesday morning.

Tuesday will be the warmest day the rest of the week with partly to mostly cloudy skies look for a high of 84.  There is also a chance for showers later in the day and into the evening as a cold front approaches the area.  The cold front will move through late Tuesday and will bring cooler temperatures Wednesday.

Expect partly to mostly cloudy skies Wednesday with a few scattered showers, but highs will only be in the mid 70s.  Cooler temperatures will continue Thursday and Friday with highs in the low to mid 70s.

The weekend is expected to stay dry and comfortable with partly cloudy skies Saturday and Sunday with highs in the upper 70s to near 80.

Hurricane Edouard continues to strengthen open waters of the Atlantic Ocean.  Edouard could become a Category 3, major hurricane Tuesday, but still poses no threat to the United States.
