CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Two members of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals will take to the streets of downtown Charleston dressed as giant condoms on Tuesday.

The PETA members are stressing the importance of spaying and neutering dogs and cats. The members will be handing out leaflets.

They will also be holding signs that say "Condoms won't work, fix your dog or cat!"

PETA stresses the only way to get a handle on the cat and dog overpopulation crisis is to always have your animals spayed or neutered.

The group says millions of unwanted offspring die in animal shelters and in the streets.

The demonstration will start at noon at the intersection of King and George streets.
