Phylicia Barnes Murder Trial Begins Today

The trial for the man accused of killing Phylicia Barnes gets underway today.  Barnes is the Monroe teenager who disappeared a little over two years ago- while visiting her sister in Baltimore.  Jury selection begins today.

Good news for those of you traveling in south Charlotte this morning.  Repairs to a big sinkhole are complete.  Crews worked overnight to cover the hole on the 58-hundred block of Tyvola Center Drive.

Plus...all lanes on Seventh Street in Uptown Charlotte are back open.  Repairs to a water main break are complete.  A crew spent about eight hours patching up the road last night.

While you were sleeping, the parent company of Blockbuster revealed it will close 300 more of its stores.  A company spokesperson says three-thousand people will lose their jobs.

One of WBTV's own has been honored by the community.  We'll have a story on Steve Crump receiving the Martin Luther King Junior Medallion.
