An Arizona judge on Wednesday is expected to consider sending a boy who pleaded guilty to negligent homicide to a group home for continued court-ordered treatment.
The boy who is now 13 years old has been at a Phoenix-area residential treatment center for nearly three years. He was brought back to court recently because of probation violations.
The boy was 8 years old when he pleaded guilty to killing his father's friend in St. Johns. Prosecutors dropped a murder charge against him in his father's death.
Probation officials have been looking into two Phoenix-area group homes after essentially ruling out foster care and a school for troubled boys.
Greenlee County Superior Court Judge Monica Stauffer is hearing the case in Apache County. She says a group home would help the boy improve further.
