RALEIGH, N.C. (WECT) – A new poll shows incumbent North Carolina Senator Kay Hagan leads several potential Republican challengers for her seat in Congress. Hagan will be up for reelection in 2014.

The poll, done January 10-13 by Public Policy Polling, shows Hagan with a lead of at least six points over possible opponents, including Rep. Renee Ellmers (46-40), Rep. Virginia Foxx (47-40), Rep. Patrick McHenry (45-39), state Sen. Phil Berger (47-38) and state House Speaker Thom Tillis (47-37).

"Kay Hagan appears somewhat vulnerable in 2014, but the big question for Republicans is whether or not they can find a strong statewide candidate to challenge the Democratic incumbent," Dean Debnam, President of Public Policy Polling, said in a news release.

PPP's January poll also showed Hagan with a 34% job approval rating, 36% disapproving of her performance and 31% not sure. Inside her party, only 49% of Democrats approve of Hagan's job performance and 35% of Democrats aren't sure.
