Otis Johnson is wanted by the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) on outstanding warrants for interfering with an electronic monitoring device, and two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon.
Johnson was released from jail on August 30, 2012 after he posted bond on multiple drug and firearms charges.
Johnson was ordered to wear a CMPD electronic monitor as a condition of his release.
On January 8, 2013 Johnson cut off his electronic monitor shortly after a detective from CMPD questioned him about an unrelated crime. Johnson was last seen in the area of Beatties Ford Road.
Johnson has an extensive criminal history in Mecklenburg County including arrests for burglary, robbery, drugs, and firearms charges. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Johnson should immediately contact the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) at (704)336-VCAT or call 911.
Johnson is the first offender monitored by CMPD to cut a monitor off in 2013. A total of 28 offenders cut their monitors off in 2012 and all have been arrested. CMPD is currently monitoring 385 offenders.
