House destroyed in Sunday afternoon fire

BESSEMER CITY, NC (WBTV) -

Firefighters from Crowder's Mountain Fire & Rescue, Bessemer City Fire Department, and Tryonota Volunteer Fire Department battled a structure fire, Sunday afternoon in Gaston County.

At 1:50 p.m. on Sunday all three departments received a dispatch of a reported structure on fire at: 203 E. Washington Avenue in Bessemer City, North Carolina.

Crews arrived on the scene, and witnessed a one story residential structure with smoke and flames visible from the front of the dwelling.

Firefighters entered the structure and battled the fire for more than 30 minutes until it was extinguished.

A total of 20 firefighters were on the scene.

The structure sustained substantial damage, with the residents living in the home displaced.

No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Gaston County Fire Investigations Task Force.
