Investigators say a Rock Hill woman stole a birthday cake she had preordered for her daughter.
A Lexington County Sheriff's Department incident report shows officers responded to the Walmart on South Lake Drive on December 29, in reference to a larceny.
The store's loss prevention officer told deputies 24-year-old Michante Staley came into the store to pick up the cake she had preordered for her 5-year-old daughter.
An employee said he saw Staley pick up the cake from the bakery and walk through the store for several minutes, before placing the cake in a cart and walking out of the store.
Deputies contacted Staley using the information she provided on the cake order form. They said she told deputies she would pay for the cake.
During that conversation, deputies scheduled an interview with Staley for January 4th.
But she never showed.
Investigators called Staley after the missed appointment, and deputies say she told them she did not want to interview with officers because she felt she would be arrested regardless.
On January 7, officials obtained an arrest warrant for Staley. Because Staley lives in another county, she was placed into NCIC as a wanted person. Copyright 2013 WBTV. WIS contributed to this report. All rights reserved.
