PHOENIX (CBS5) -
The massive flu outbreak across the country could spell trouble for people here in the Valley wanting to get a flu shot. Many places that offer the vaccine are out of stock.
CBS 5 News spoke with several doctors all over the Valley who said they were slammed, trying to squeeze people in to get their flu shot. We also found that many walk-in pharmacies were out.
Tony Dicrescenzo said his hunt for a flu shot started yesterday, but everywhere he went was out of them.
"Actually went to three places, and they were out, this was the fourth and grabbed it," he said.
Dicrescenzo wasn't the only one who was told flu shots are unavailable. Jonathan Friedland heard that this morning.
"I went to Walgreen's that's closest to my house and they told me they were out it for my age group. So I came here," he said.
Mike Cihlar with Mollen Immunization Clinics says they've had a steady flow of people seeking the flu vaccine.
"We heard there was some spot shortages across the country and here in Arizona. We're working with the physician's offices and other players to be able to help and provide the vaccines that they might need," said Cihlar.
CBS 5 News checked in with a few places to see if they had them.
The CVS at 32nd Street and Union Hills says they're out, as well as the CVS location at 19th Avenue and Indian School.
Walgreen's at Seventh Street and Camelback is also out, but the one at 16th Street and Glendale still has the vaccines.
Those that didn't have them say they are expecting another shipment next week.
State health officials says not to worry because there are plenty of flu vaccines still out there. You just might want to call your doctor or those walk-in clinics beforehand to see if they have them.
