CALDWELL COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -
The Caldwell County Fire Marshal's Office is assisting in
the investigation of a structure fire that was reported just before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday,
in the Gamewell area of Caldwell County.
The Fire Marshal's Office was called to the 2500 block of Chinaberry Lane off Crump Road.
The fire was reported by the owner of the home, who was home when the
fire originated. He told investigators the fire started in the basement area
of the home where a wood stove was located.
Investigators say the structure was destroyed in the blaze and
damages are estimated around $120,000. The exact cause of the fire is still
under investigation.
Responding
to the fire in addition to the Fire Marshal's Office were the Gamewell Fire
Department, Collettsville Fire Department, North Catawba Fire & Rescue,
Hudson Fire & Rescue, Lenoir Fire Department and Valmead Fire Department.
