$250,000 Mega Millions ticket sold in Rock Hill


A Rock Hill retailer sold a Mega Millions® ticket worth $250,000 for Tuesday night's drawing. 

Herlong Express at 490 S. Herlong Ave. in Rock Hill is the lucky lottery destination.

The ticket sold in Rock Hill matched all five white ball numbers drawn.

Had the ticket holder purchased Megaplier® for an extra $1, the $250,000 prize would have been $1 million.

Mega Millions® – Tuesday, January 8 drawing:
3, 20, 21, 38, and 42  Megaball®: 19

More than 5,900 players in South Carolina hold tickets for prizes from $2 up to $250,000. 

Of these, more than 1,900 players paid the extra dollar to purchase Megaplier®.  When claimed, these players will see their prize winnings multiplied by 4, the Megaplier® number drawn. 

Players have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes.

The odds of winning $250,000 are 1 in 3,904,701.

The Mega Millions® jackpot for Friday night's drawing is an estimated $55 million.

Proceeds from every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery are returned to the state in the form of funding for education, prizes, retailer commissions, and payment to contractors for goods and services.
