CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -
A small gun was found in a passenger's carry-on bag at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
The incident was reported at 9:20 a.m. at one of the security checkpoints inside the airport, according to the Transportation Security Administration.
Airport police were alerted and took possession of the bag.
Erik Weir, 45, was issued a citation for carrying a concealed weapon.
TSA officials say it's the first firearm discovered at the airport this year. Last year, security officials seized 16 firearms.
