One of the best high school point guards in the nation is right here in our area and he has verbally committed to a college.
Cuthbertson junior Shelton Mitchell has committed to Wake Forest.
Mitchell chose the Deacons over schools like Duke, North Carolina, UConn, Arizona, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Clemson, South Carolina, and Charlotte.
Wake has been recruiting him since he was a freshman and that's a big reason he chose them.
So far this season, the junior point guard is averaging 22 points per game for a 12-1 Cuthbertson team that is a top contender for the 2A State Championship.
Last season, the Cavs were the 2A State Runners Up.
