NEW: Charlotte officers on leave after a shooting left one man dead

Hello. It's Monday, January 7. Hope you enjoyed the weekend! This is Christine Nelson writing you from my desk in the newsroom. Here is a snippet of the stories you're going to see when you turn on WBTV News This Morning from 4:30-7:00 a.m.

NEW OVERNIGHT: Two Charlotte police officers had to be placed on leave this morning. They answered a call in South Charlotte where officers ended up shooting a man to death. What happened that led to the gunfire? WBTV's Cam Man Ron Lee got those critical details. He's live to give us a full report right at 5 a.m.

The airport in Charlotte is where the grandson of a former presidential candidate Ron Paul got a bit rowdy...to the point where he was arrested! William Paul has a court date in Charlotte to answer to the charges against him. We'll explain what those are.

Also, he's officially the new North Carolina governor. Now Pat McCrory is full-speed ahead to fix the problems in this state. We're looking ahead to what on the agenda today.

Do you want to make a difference in a young person's life this new year? Many people are doing that by becoming a foster parent. WBTV's Astrid Martinez is live in the studio to explain how the experience can be rewarding, not only for the child, but for you too.

It's show time. Let us help get your morning started, tune us in!!

See you on the air.
