Tucson officials may settle a lawsuit in which Union Pacific Railroad seeks damages for a 2010 waterline break that flooded UP's rail yard.
The Arizona Daily Star reports that the City Council will discuss a possible settlement that would pay the railroad $1.3 million.
At issue in the case is who was at fault in the break that resulted in the loss of up to 11 million gallons of water and caused extensive damage to railroad equipment and property.
The railroad contends a city worker improperly marked the water line. UP says that led to the break as a contractor for the railroad performed excavation work.
The city contends the contractor continued digging when work should have stopped after the excavation crew hit the water line's outer concrete casing.
