WASHINGTON, DC (FOX19) -
Many re-elected local lawmakers were sworn into office on Thursday.
U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown was sworn in with former senator John Glenn by his side. Brown defeated Republican Josh Mandel in November and is serving his 2nd term.
Vice President Joe Biden swore in the new Indiana Senator Joe Donnelly, who replaced Richard Lugar. Donnelly defeated State Treasurer Richard Mourdock, whose controversial rape comments hurt his campaign.
Also sworn in were local representatives, including Republican Steve Chabot, serving his 9th term representing Ohio District 1.
Republican Brad Wenstrup will serve Ohio District 2 for the first time. Wenstrup replaced Jean Schmidt, who he defeated in the Republican primary.
In addition, Republican Thomas Massie will serve his first term in congress, representing Kentucky District 4. Massie replaced Geoff Davis who resigned.
