COLUMBUS, OH (FOX19) -
On Thursday, Ohio State Representative Bill Patmon (D-Cleveland) took
the steps the reintroduce the Superman specialty license plate bill in the Ohio
House.
This legislation, after having unanimously passed through the Ohio
House of Representatives, stalled in the Senate Highways and Transportation
Committee in the 129th General Assembly.
"Superman is an important part of Cleveland's, Ohio's, and
America's history," Representative Patmon said of his legislation. "I'm looking
forward to making these plates an option in time for Superman's 75th
Anniversary later this year."
The license plates will commemorate Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel,
the two men responsible for creating the character of Superman in comics.
Writer Jerry Siegel created Superman while living in a small house in Glenville,
a Cleveland neighborhood.
These humble beginnings were the premise of
something much larger: the world's most famous superhero and the only one
created in Ohio.
The license plates will be inscribed with a saying and
marked with a design selected by the entity that owns Superman's name.
The license plates will also bear county identification stickers.
