Officers are investigating an armed robbery that happened at a local church, according to a report from the Monroe Police Department.
Officers responded to an armed robbery call Monday just before 9 p.m. at Iglesia de Dios Nueva Vida church on Engleside Street in Monroe.
Witnesses told police several people were inside the church when a man came in with a shotgun or rifle and starting grabbing all of the women's purses.
The man, who was wearing a black mask, black jacket, red shirt and brown/khaki pants, never said anything, but did point his gun at several people, the report states.
The man then walked out with all of the purses in an unknown direction, police said.
Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate anyone.
