Police out in full force on New Year's Eve, keeping roads safe

Posted: Updated:

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, troopers and deputies across the Carolinas were on the roads Monday night into Tuesday morning, making sure you were safe as you traveled to and from your New Year's Eve activities.

Police tell WBTV Cam Man Ron Lee there were no major incidents to report.

A CMPD spokesman says there were no DUI checkpoints in Charlotte.

Instead, police were concentrating on a much wider area to catch those who made the bad decision of drinking and driving.

WBTV crews found there were almost as many cabs as police cars on the roads, suggesting a lot of people made the right decision on New Year's Eve.
