CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A driver is taken into custody after police said he nearly hit a home while intoxicated behind the wheel.
Emergency crews raced to the scene along the 1200 block of Providence Road in south Charlotte early Monday morning after reports came in of a driver who had collided with a house.
It turns out there was no collision, but the damage was easy to see.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said the sedan came off the road, crossed several front yards, and skidded to a halt before the house was hit.
Witnesses said the driver appeared to be intoxicated.
Police seem to agree.
Officers performed a sobriety check on the yet unnamed man, but he was handcuffed a short time later.
Police confirm he was charged with driving under the influence.
