Man arrested for robbing Gastonia bank, police say

A man was arrested Friday after robbing a Gaston County bank, according to the Gaston County Police Department.

The incident began at the PNC Gastonia-South bank on South New Hope Road. Bank employees told officers that a man, armed with a weapon, entered the bank and demanded money from the teller.

 The man then left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene in a vehicle, the report states.

Officers with the Cramerton and Gastonia Police Departments assisted in searching for the robber.

Wendell Troy Dryden, 32, was located in the Chateau Village Apartments on S. New Hope Rd, and was taken into custody after a short chase on foot, officers said.

Dryden was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon. He is being held in the Gaston County Jail under no bond.

Khaliff Lamar Culbertson, 30, was also charged in the incident. He was charged with simple possession of marijuana and resist, obstruct and delay an officer.
