Officials at Charlotte-Douglas warn all travelers flying out of the Queen City to check their flight status before heading to the airport due to the stormy weather.
High winds and some lightning are causing intermittent delays for arriving and departing flights.
The Federal Aviation Administration implemented a "ground stop" for a short time Wednesday morning until 9:45 a.m.
The agency says that meant some flights were grounded in the departure city due to the stormy conditions in Charlotte.
US Airways, the airport's largest carrier, is relaxing most change fees if you have to change your flight due to the messy weather across the country.
