A section of North Tryon Street in northeast Charlotte will be closed through Thursday due to a Christmas morning water main break.
A spokesperson for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utility Department said the extended closure is necessary so crews can fix roadway damage and make repairs to the 12-inch water main.
North Tryon is closed between 36th Street and Atando Avenue. Detour markers are up to assist motorists around the area, where crews are working on the repairs. WBTV First Alert Traffic reporter Tonya Rivens says drivers can get around the detour by taking North Graham Street, East/West Sugar Creek Road or The Plaza.
