A Covington man is headed to prison for sometime, following a conviction on Thursday.
A jury found Joseph Weir, 40, guilty of armed robbery and possession of a firearm. This comes after a prior conviction of armed kidnapping.
Weir was first convicted on December 5, 2012, of kidnapping a 76-year-old woman, by threatening her with a knife and handgun. Officials say on May 31, 2011, he took the victim to try and access her bank account.
Weir forced himself into her car and drove her to a remote area of Cleves, Ohio, where he tied her to a tree, near the bank of the Great Miami River. The victim was able to free herself and find help on a nearby road, suffering minor injuries.
He was convicted of kidnapping and brandishing a firearm during a violent crime.
The same month of his first conviction, trial testimony revealed he robbed the Huntington Bank in Covington, located at Sixth Street and Madison Avenue.
Authorities say he passed a note to the teller threatening to shoot her and showed his gun.
After a little over an hour deliberation, a jury convicted Weir of bank robbery.
He will be sentenced on April 22, 2013.
He faces a minimum of 32 years and a maximum of life in prison.
