Snow! - | WBTV Charlotte


Good morning to you on this Friday, 21 December 2012, from the WBTV News morning team...John Carter reporting to you this morning!

And how appropriate...that on the first official day of winter...we're starting to get snow in the higher elevations of the North Carolina mountains this morning!  We're expected to get snow in the mountains throughout the day...and that's great news for the ski resorts as we head into the Christmas holiday week.  Here in the Piedmont area, expect a biting wind, with wind chills only climbing into the 30s today.  We'll tell you exactly what to expect with the weather, in your First Alert Weather forecast.

No snow in Charlotte...but the weather is causing delays in some flights at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.  Winter weather advisories are up in 12 states...whiteout and blizzard conditions in some areas...and as much as a foot and a half of snow in other Midwest states.

Cam Man Ron Lee is live this morning...with more information about the body of a woman found along a creek near Carolinas Medical Center outside uptown Charlotte.

Today marks one week since the terrible tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut.  We'll tell you about plans for the day as the nation continues to mourn the deaths of the students and teachers.

Schools in Rowan County are on a "code yellow" lockdown today...we'll have more on that.

The FBI says one of two bank robbers involved in a daring Chicago prison break have been caught.
