Detectives from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's homicide unit are investigating after a female body was found in Sugar Creek.
Shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday firefighters were called to the 1400 block of East Morehead Street, which is adjacent to the campus of Carolinas Medical Center.
Police said 27 year old Ashley Ashcroft-Billings died of natural causes. She was wearing a medical bracelet, but was not listed as a patient.
