A threat communicated via Twitter has resulted in extra security this week at East Rowan High School.
The specific nature of the threat was not released by officials, but they did say that the person who made the threat had been identified and was being dealt with according to the school system's code of conduct.
Security was stepped up with the presence of four or five deputies on campus, in addition to the school resource officer that is already at ERHS.
ERHS has not been on lockdown. The principal did send a message to parents informing them of the increased security. Rowan-Salisbury Schools spokeswoman Rita Foil said that they did not consider the threat to be valid, but increased security at least in part due to the school massacre Friday in Connecticut.
