County closings for the holidays

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Mecklenburg County government offices and agencies will be closed on Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012 for the Christmas holiday and Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 for the New Year's holiday.
 
This includes all units of the Department of Social Services, the Tax Office, Elections Office, the Register of Deeds Office and the Land Use and Environmental Services Office.
 
Mecklenburg County Substance Abuse Center (Detox) is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
 
The Department of Social Services Care Line (704-336-CARE or 704-336-2773) operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect of children, the elderly or disabled adults.
 
The Health Department will be closed on Monday, Dec. 24, Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012 and Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013.
 
All Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library facilities will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 24 and 25.
 
All branches will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and remain closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013.
 
All Solid Waste administrative offices and facilities will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 25. Solid Waste facilities will be open on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, and the remainder of the week on a normal schedule.
All Solid Waste administrative offices and facilities, with the exception of Compost Central, will be closed on New Year's Day. Compost Central will open from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m.
 
All Park and Recreation administrative offices, recreation centers, nature centers, Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center and Ray's Splash Planet will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Dec. 24 and 25. All will be closed again on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 with the exception of nature centers, which will open on New Year's Day.
 
As a reminder, CharMeck 311 remains open and available to the public on holidays and weekends.
