STANLY COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -
An Albemarle man was arrested for violating sex offender laws by attending a church event, according to the Stanly County Sheriff's Office.
On October 28, a report was initiated with the Sheriff's Office in reference to a sex offender registry violation. The reported incident occurred during an event held at Salem United Methodist Church in Millingport, deputies said.
Benson Luther Little III, 51, was reportedly at the church, within 300 feet of a social gathering where children were gathered, which is against state law for a registered sex offender.
Warrants were obtained on Little, and he was arrested on Monday, December 10.
He was taken to the Stanly County Detention Center and placed under $3,000 secured bond. He has a court date scheduled in Stanly County District Court on January 14.
