A North Charleston man is out on bond after being accused of physically abusing a 101-year-old man at a Mount Pleasant assisted-living facility.

According to an affidavit, a hidden camera inside the 101-year-old man's room at Mt. Pleasant Manor, located on Bowman Road, captured 44-year-old Deasmond Kimbrough, abusing him on Dec. 6 between 6:23 and 6:25 p.m.

Documents state the camera, planted by a private investigator, shows Kimbrough flicking the man's nose and then grabbing and pulling on him from behind a sheet which separates the victim and his roommate.

The victim, apparently distressed by the touching, is then seen grabbing his phone, according to the affidavit.

Finally, Kimbrough is seen standing over the 101-year-old man, yelling at him, documents state.

The victim's family hired a private investigator after becoming suspicious of abuse by an employee. After they reviewed the video on Dec. 7, they contacted the Mt. Pleasant Police Department.

Following a bond hearing, the victim's attorney, Matt Yelverton, said video indicated the 101-year-old had been physically abused and sexually assaulted.

Yelverton said the video shows Kimbrough attempting to kiss the 101-year-old man on the mouth.

Kimbrough turned himself into police on Monday, according to Major Stan Gragg with the Mt. Pleasant Police Department.

He is charged with abuse of a vulnerable adult. A judge granted him a $100,000 bond on Tuesday.

Mount Pleasant Manor Administrator Bruce White told Reporter Harve Jacobs the facility was fully cooperating with police and were also holding their own investigation into the alleged abuse.
