MORGANTON, NC (WBTV) -
Two men were arrested after an armed robbery at a local convenience store, according to the Burke County Sheriff's Office.
The robbery happened Saturday just after 4 p.m. at the Hartland Mobile Shopping Center on Piney Road in Morganton.
The owner of the store told deputies who responded to the scene that a masked man came in while he was turning off the lights to close up. The robber kept his hand inside a hooded sweatshirt pocket as if he had a gun and demanded money, the report states.
The store owner resisted at first, deputies said, but was shoved to the ground by the robber before a small motorcycle dirtbike that was for sale in the store was pushed on him, pinning him to the ground.
The masked man took the owner's wallet, which contained the money from the register, the report states.
Detectives from the Burke County Sheriff's Office at the scene developed leads that resulted in the arrest of two men later that day.
William Andrew Dykes and Roger Joel Harper were arrested and charged with one count each of robbery with a dangerous weapon and second degree kidnapping. They were each placed under a $75,000 secured bond.
