South Park hotel evacuated after electrical issue activates alarm

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

An early morning evacuation was not the wake up call guests had in mind when alarms sounded at a South Park hotel Sunday morning.

Guests of the Hampton Inn at Phillips Place in South Charlotte had to evacuate when an alarm sounded alerting all in the hotel.

Capt. Rob Brisley for the Charlotte Fire Department said that there was no working fire or injuries at the scene.

An electrical issue on the second floor triggered the alarm. Captain Brisley said the evacuation lasted only 30 minutes.
