CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A cold front moving in early this week should provide much of the Carolinas with some much-needed rain and even thunderstorms.
With a more spring-like pattern setting up, enough warm and moist air will move in ahead of a late day front on Monday to allow a line of showers and storms to develop. The best rain chances with the front will be to the west of Charlotte.
Rainfall totals of between a quarter to half an inch are likely, with some areas seeing as much as an inch of rain. This should provide some relief to the drought conditions in place across the area. Mecklenburg county is currently under a Moderate drought, with Severe drought conditions reported in parts of South Carolina.
There is currently over a 9 inch year-to-date rainfall deficit in Charlotte.
