Two charged in northern Iredell Co. methamphetamine operation

STATESVILLE, NC (WBTV) -

Narcotics investigators have arrested two people they say were cooking and selling methamphetamine in Iredell County.

Jennifer Cochran, 31, of Union Grove, and Joshua McHugh, 34, of Harmony, are charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance and destroying evidence, according to a news release from the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators were tipped off that someone was cooking and selling methamphetamine in the northern part of Iredell County.

Narcotics Detectives conducted numerous hours of surveillance at various locations and were able to identify Joshua McHugh and Jennifer Cochran as the potential suspects.

Narcotics Detectives located Joshua McHugh at his parent's residence when he was approached. 

Detectives a bottle containing plastic baggies with what was believed to be methamphetamine residue and a glass smoking pipe used to smoke methamphetamine when they searched McHugh.

During the time of arrest Joshua McHugh attempted to destroy the evidence taken from him, according to the release.

Detectives transported McHugh back to his residence where they executed a search warrant. They located one gram of Methamphetamine inside of the residence, along with several firearms, and various drug paraphernalia.

They also located a small portable cooler concealed in a wooded area behind the residence of McHugh. Inside of the cooler, detectives located several key components used in manufacturing methamphetamine.

Upon Further investigation, Detectives conducted a search at Jennifer Cochran's residence. During the search they located one half gram of methamphetamine and various drug paraphernalia.

McHugh's bond was set at $25,000.
