The Carolina Panthers are teaming up again this year with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to help deliver the magic of the holidays to children across the Carolinas.
During Sunday's home game against the Atlanta Falcons, the Panthers will hold the annual holiday toy drive to benefit the Toys for Tots program.
All fans can help - just bring a new, unwrapped toy to the game. Representatives from the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve will be at each gate to the stadium starting at 11 a.m. to collect the toys.
Fans can also visit www.toysfortots.org/touchdown through December 24th to sponsor a toy for a child.
Last year, Marines distributed toys to more than 7.2 million children nationwide. With 15 million children currently living in poverty in the United States, the need for Toys for Tots is greater than ever.
During the 2011 Panthers Toys for Tots holiday toy drive, fans donated more than 20,000 toys and more than $11,000 to the local Toys for Tots Foundation. The donation ranked first among the 15 participating NFL clubs and was the largest stadium collection in team history.
"Last season, Carolina Panthers fans generated the largest Toy for Tots Drive in the NFL, which provided the Marine Corps Reserves with unprecedented resources to serve children across the region," said Riley Fields, the Carolina Panthers director of community relations.
"This holiday season will again be challenging for many families in the Carolinas, so this is a great opportunity for Panthers fans to again bring holiday joy to children in our community."
