Free dental event in Charlotte expected to help thousands

Good morning! It's Friday, December 7. This is Christine Nelson with your first look at the stories we're covering on WBTV News This Morning from 4:30-7:00 a.m.

LIVE: In a matter of hours the Charlotte Convention Centers is going to be packed with people. That's because a free dental event is about to start. It's an opportunity for people, who couldn't otherwise afford it, to get the dental care they need. WBTV's Cam Man Ron Lee is there with stories from people who traveled near and far to get help.

Also, several names are already being dropped since Republican U.S. Senator Jim DeMint from South Carolina announced his resignation. We'll tell you who the governor could appoint to replace him.

JUST IN: We're following a major earthquake in Japan. In the last half hour a tsunami warning was just issued. Do parts of the United States need to be concerned? We'll have the late breaking details.

Also, do you remember how much you're supposed to tip your waiter? Hair stylist? Babysitter? Are there different rules for the holidays? WBTV's Astrid Martinez is helping us out. She has the holiday tipping guide to get you through the new year.

We have the most reliable weather and traffic updates every 10 minutes to get you out the door on time!

See you on the air!

Christine
