The Denver Post was reporting Wednesday night that UC head football coach Butch Jones was headed to Colorado University, but Jones has denied the report.
Jones said in a text to FOX19's Joe Danneman that he will announce his decision on Thursday.
Jones was slightly more cooperative in Charlotte Wednesday when it came to questions about his future.
At a press conference to talk about the Belk Bowl, which UC is scheduled to play Dec. 27, Jones said he expects a resolution about his future one way or the other, "pretty soon."
Jones does not believe all the speculation about his future has been a distraction to his team at UC.
"I've been very up front and honest with them. They understand. Really all this speculation is a compliment to them. It has nothing to do with me. It's a complement to our players and our coaching staff – the way we play the game, the way we execute, the plan to win. It has not been one distraction at all," he said.
Jones has visited both Purdue and Colorado University in the last few days. The Purdue job has since been filled but Jones is still linked to the open head coaching job at Colorado and is reported to be the Buffalo's top candidate.
