Santa's helpers stop by WBTV with gifts for children

Right now, WBTV is holding its annual Toys for Tots holiday toy drive.

Monday afternoon, a pair of Santa's helpers dropped by WBTV and donated dozens of toys. There were several bikes, footballs, basketballs, dolls and accessories, scooters, board games…and more.

The couple didn't leave their names or any identifying information. They came in, filled up the donation bin (and the area around it!) and said goodbye.

What a great way to show support! We are very thankful to those in the community who are determined to help make Toys for Tots a success.

Toys for Tots is a 64-year-old program coordinated by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve to deliver a message of hope to needy youngsters. Their mission works by providing toys to children during the holidays.

All new, unwrapped toys are accepted. The program will not distribute toys related to weapons/law enforcement, candy, chemicals or anything used that could pose a safety risk.

Thursday, December 6, WBTV will host the Toys for Tots Toy Drive Day. You can take donations to Bojangles at 1407 East 3rd Street in Charlotte from 5 a.m. until 7 a.m. and Scott Clark's Toyota City at 13000 East Independence Boulevard in Stallings from 4 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
