CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A cute puppy with a big red bow around its neck seems like the perfect Christmas present.
However, animal experts will tell you that much planning, research, and work has to be done before making the decision to adopt or buy a pet as a gift.
Melissa Knicely with Charlotte's Animal Care and Control visited WBTV News Saturday Morning to talk about the pros and cons of the gift of an animal companion.
She also told us about Subaru's yearly Share the Love Event. They partner with Animal Care and Control and through a grant made possible by the ASPCA, during the 12 Days of Christmas, they "share the love" with community partners in helping both shelter animals and owned pets in need.
