Town of Stanley: Boil your water

Posted: Updated:
STANLEY, NC (WBTV) -

Water customers in the Town of Stanley in Gaston County are experiencing periods of low pressure and outages in the distribution system due to low water level in the elevated storage tank.

Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increases the potential for back siphonage and the introduction of bacteria into the water system.

The Division of Water Resources advises customers to boil their water when it is restored.

Boil all water that is consumed - drinking water, the water used to make ice cubes, water for teeth-brushing, washing dishes and food prep.

Vigorous boiling for one (1) minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water.

Officials will advise when the boil water advisory is lifted.
