The discovery of stolen identification and credit cards found in a trash bag at a home in northeast Lincoln County led to the arrest of a man in connection with a rash of vehicle break-ins, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.

Detectives working the cases of vehicle break-ins arrested Allen Scott Waters, II, 23, on Monday and charged him with vehicle break-ins at several subdivisions in an area of Highway 150 East of Lincolnton.

The break-ins occurred between October 21, and November 17, to vehicles at homes on Queens Drive, Royal Drive, Arden Drive, Prince Drive, Fernwood Drive, Briarwood Road, and Old Mill Road, the report states.

A break in the case came when identification cards, credit cards and cell phones were discovered in a trash bag that came from Waters' girlfriend's home on Mansion Drive. Detectives also found two laptops, three cellphones, a camera, and IPod, along with numerous ID's and Credit Cards from the home.

Waters was also identified after a picture from a surveillance camera at one of the victim's homes was broadcast and published by area media outlets.

He is facing 35 charges including felony breaking and entering a vehicle, felony larceny, felony possession of stolen goods, misdemeanor injury to real property and misdemeanor larceny.

Waters is being held in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond.
