Linus Bike is asking cyclists to join the ‘Let’s Race Bikes!’ movement in hopes to encourage cycling across the West Coast amongst women.
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) November 27, 2012
On November 27, Linus Bike responds to a Bike Portland article by encouraging cyclists across the country to join the ‘Let’s Race Bikes!’ movement supporting women’s cycling and the cycling industry. China Reevers, a Linus Bike representative, comments on the event as “inspiring for women everywhere.”
According to Bike Portland, “‘Let’s Race Bikes!’ is a coalition led by local teams of Oregon to see larger women’s fields at races throughout Oregon.” Bike Portland reports that ‘Let’s Race Bikes!’ has the support of major cycling teams, Therapeutic Associates, Sorella Forte, West Coast Women's Cycling and Upper Echelon Fitness.
“Basically, a group of women have joined together because we saw a need to ‘market’ Road racing in Oregon,” ‘Let's Race Bikes!’ Board Member Karey Miles commented to Bike Portland. “Over the past few years we have seen drops and inconsistencies in numbers of women racing their bikes, especially on the road.”
The mission of ‘Let’s Race Bikes!’, according to Bike Portland’s report, is to encourage new and former racers to join, “make racing more accessible to more women of all abilities by providing numerous skills practice opportunities [throughout] the year,” and raise funds for race prizes and other efforts.
“The ‘Let’s Race Bikes!’ movement is inspiring to women everywhere,” comments Reevers. “Cycling should be enjoyed by everyone, including women. Joining this cause not only expresses a support for cycling but for women too.”
Reevers states that Linus Bike extends its support to ‘Let’s Race Bikes!’ and looks forward to the event. “This event marks a movement in women’s racing within the cycling world,” says Reevers. “We encourage women everywhere to give their support for ‘Let’s Race Bikes!’ and join the cause. Linus Bike wishes the event success!”
