Local Santa Rosa residents competing to earn year of free pizza and name on restaurant's menu.

La Vera Pizza, a nearly 30-year old family-owned Santa Rosa Pizzeria, is holding a unique Celebrity Pizza Chef Contest this month. The contest gives local residents the opportunity to receive recognition for their pizza creation talents and be featured on La Vera's menu. The contest, which began in October and is currently in its final phase, utilizes social media to tally votes and has been narrowed down to 5 finalists. One of these finalists will be selected as the ultimate contest winner on November 30th, 2012.
The winner of the contest will be selected through a social voting system implemented on the company's Facebook page at
https://www.facebook.com/LaVeraPizza/app_114236995400967 and also visible on the restaurant's website. Contestants are encouraged to invite their family and friends to "Like" La Vera¹s Facebook page and vote for their creation on Facebook. All La Vera Pizza Facebook fans can cast one vote for their preferred contestant every day for the remainder of the contest.
The finalist contestants are competing for several prizes, which include:

A congratulatory in-restaurant party in their honor, wherein the winner receives 2 18¹¹ pizzas for themselves and 7 guests.
- The opportunity to receive one free pizza every month for an entire year
- Having their winning pizza entry, with a name of their choosing, be featured on La Vera's menu as a regular offering

Chef can do so on La Vera Pizza's Facebook page.
The finalists for the Celebrity Pizza Chef contest are: Hannah & Diane Hobaugh, Emilce Palencia, Sue Bonzell, Ian Arnold and Wendell Gulley. As of the time of this writing, Gulley is currently leading the last round of the contest with 67 votes. However, the contest still has plenty of time remaining and thus it is too early to be able to predict the winner. La Vera Pizza is encouraging all of its Facebook fans and their friends and family to help select the contest's final winner.
Sue and Ric Kade, La Vera Pizza's owners, commented on the contest, saying "We're thrilled to have a group of truly wonderful people from the community competing to be our Celebrity Pizza Chef, including some really innovative pizza creations from the group. We'd be proud to have any of their creations grace our menu, and we're excited along with everyone else to find out which will be chosen as the winner by our community of fans and friends."
La Vera Pizza is a family-owned and -operated Italian restaurant/pizzeria that has been serving residents of Sonoma County for nearly 30 years. The restaurant's past accolades include being selected as Best Pizza in KZST's People¹s Choice Pizza Poll, and being given a "best pizza" recommendation from Best Restaurants in America.
